Homage to EleanOR Antin
Last fall I acquired a Ricoh RDC5000 digital camera that makes very nice images. I travel a lot. So, I was trying to think of a theme OR continuity for images as I travel around. From the cobwebs of my memories came the message: boots. Ah, yes, I vaguely remembered Eleanor Antin's 100 Boots.
Your
can read more about them in a recent piece from Running Press, "100
Boots" by Eleanor Antin.
So, while on the road with Sally in Blacksburg, VA (September 20 1999), we were waiting for the waiter to ask for our order. A flash of inspiration cause me to quickly sketch, colour, and cut out my first boot. You'll notice that Sally was posing when the waiter interrupted and caught her attention. The boot was presen at my before and after breakfast, then joined us at the Floyd Country Store, on the Blue Ridge Highway and finally checking out the Appalachian Trail.
Stay tooned for more about the traveling boot.
