A. Proxi -- a gentle introduction
In 1977 I wanted to go to a Mail Art event in Massachucetts. Well, I was
in Athens, Georgia at the time. (You know down there near where all the
Olympic atheletes will soon suffer heat stroke!)
Any way, I knew I couldn't go, but didn't want to disappoint Steve Durland
(editor of some way cool magazine from LA now..... at least I think so.).
So, I went to the color photocopier and did my face. Had a friend trace
my graduate student body on painters canvas. Pasted the face at the top.
Folded A.Proxi up and put the address and stamps on what would have been
the butt. I understand that them Yankees had a grand time with my proxy.
[But, that is another story -- stay tooned.]
Once A.Proxi came back south he went traveling again to be with Anna Banana
at the Banana Olympics in Cananada. He won a couple ribbons that you can
see on his T-shirt.
Then he traveled off to Denmark for the show that you see here. I guess
he's tired from mail-lag or such. After this show he went down to Holland
(the Netherlands) nether to be seen again. I mean A.Proxi just disappeared.
If you all see him, tell him I miss him and would love to have a chat.
