Webs - cotton netting ca. 1971 - 1973

Here are some photos that I tore off of a cabinet that is now in the garage. The cabinet ORiginally came from the kitchen of the first house we bought at 409 S. Jarvis Street in Greenville, but that was years after these pictures were taken.

I was an undergraduate at flORida state unv. in the school of education studying constructive design. What's that? Oh. I mean to say I was learning how to make jewelry and do fiber art. At that time of the century fine art departments looked down on the "crafts." So it goes. Anyway, as a fiber art I began a series of spider webs. Here are just a few. The final piece I do not have a photo of was 5 stories tall stretched between two dormitories at fsu.

I did these webs at night usually on my way home after working at the Pastime Bar & Grill on W. Tennessee. Then I'd come back the next morning to see what was left.
