Policy Statement
To accomplish its purpose, the Library shall:
- Seek to understand the informational needs nd desires of all citizens
and attempt to satisfy them in accordance with guidelines stated in the
American Library Association Library bill of Rights, Freedom to Read and
Freedom to View statements, within the limites imposed by the budget and
space;
- Extend Library resources into the community to assist individuals
and groups with special needs and interests;
- Work cooperatively with other libraries and agencies, such as the
University of Colorado and Boulder Valley Public Schools, in providing information
to the public;
- Pursue opportunities through new technologies to deliver information
more efficiently and more quickly;
- Maintain a non-partisan and objective atmosphere;
- Safeguard the privacy of each user, without disclosure of information
about, or surveillance of, patrons and their use of the Library.
The Library shall provide materials and services to:
- Offer continuous, lifelong self-education and personal development;
- Offer avenues of intellectual and cultural experience;
- Stimulate creative thinking and improve the basis for public and pricate
decisions;
- Meet vocational needs and avocational interests;
- Contribute to the pleasuer and general well-being of the people.
